Apple vs. Apple

While that may be true for them in the form of brand recognition, I've also seen an article over at ArsTechnica talking about how online music stores are only receiving $0.05 per song of the $0.99 charged for them.

News.com had an article talking about how the recent Apple vs. Apple thing could end up a coup for the iTunes Music Store in the form of an exclusive distribution agreement.

While that may be true for them in the form of brand recognition, I've also seen an article over at ArsTechnica talking about how online music stores are only receiving $0.05 per song of the $0.99 charged for them.

So if you do the Math Apple only made $5.0M before taxes on the 100M songs they sold (more since I'm sure). You have to wonder how much of that $5.0M was eaten up in development, distribution, etc costs. Pretty amazing.
