Save Betamax! National Call in Day


Basically the INDUCE act would invalidate the Sony vs. Universal (aka the Betamax decision) that gives you the right to 'fair use' or make copies of the media in question for your own personal use.

So, when I get home this evening I find this note in my inbox about the 'Save Betamax National Call In Day' where everyone is supposed to call their congressman in support of trashing the INDUCE act.

Of course by 6:45PM EDT my congress person has already gone home for the day.

Basically the INDUCE act would invalidate the Sony vs. Universal (aka the Betamax decision) that gives you the right to 'fair use' or make copies of the media in question for your own personal use. IE Recording a TV show, recording something from the radio, or ripping an AAC or MP3 file for your iPod.

So if you maybe want to follow up tomorrow and bug your congress person here's your chance to do it in a semi organized fashion. Wish I heard about it sooner.
