New iPod 40GB System on the way.
I also opted for the extended warranty, as well
as a Belkin CF Media reader that will let me copy my micro-drives off onto the
iPod taking advantage of the extra space on the iPod so I can carry it and my
camera around instead of the laptop.
Apple did indeed announce the new iPod in
both 20GB and 40GB flavors. They were touted as 'less expensive' versions plus
the new 'click wheel' feature similar to what was on the iPod Mini.
This was the clincher for me replacing my ailing 2G iPod I bought in August of
2002. I didn't like the older four button placement across the top of the 3G
and much preferred the 2G where the various tasks were at the 12-3-6-9 positions
of the clock. The click wheel takes it a step
further.However one thing I didn't
like was that after I ordered my iPod the tech specs
suddenly changed to no longer include a carrying case & remote.
If you're going to 'lower' the price you don't lower it by taking out
functionality. I've since fired an email off to them asking politely if since
the page was wrong initially can I please have them for free/reduced price since
that'd add an additional $75 to the $399 price of the iPod. If I'd known it
didn't come with it I would have not gone with the big boy and stuck with a
newer 20GB model.I also opted for the
extended warranty, as well as a Belkin CF Media reader that will let me copy my
micro-drives off onto the iPod taking advantage of the extra space on the iPod
so I can carry it and my camera around instead of the
laptop.Not that I wouldn't keep my
laptop with me, but so that I could once to my new destination carry just the
iPod out into the woods or into the city or whatever and transfer as needed.
Pretty handy multi-tasker device even though it was another
$99.Figured while I was at it I could
get Angi a new printing program for greeting cards and such, hope it's
decent. Here's an 'official' pic of the
new
iPod:
Pretty
nice looking. Hopefully should have it by the end of a week and then I can do
some side by side comparisons to my 2G iPod - and then promptly put the 2G iPod
on eBay and maybe get a few $$ for it.
