The New iMac G5

It is an all-in-one model that comes with the new G5 processor at 1.6GHz and 1.8GHz, and comes in a seventeen and twenty inch display models.

While I was sleeping somewhere in San Antonio, TX Apple introduced the all new iMac G5 to much fanfare at the Paris Expo.

The new design is quite the departure from the previous model. It is an all-in-one model that comes with the new G5 processor at 1.6GHz and 1.8GHz, and comes in a seventeen and twenty inch display models.

The computer is behind the display now, there is no dome beneath it. It's quite the impressive looking display. Updates include serial ATA storage, maximum memory of 2GB, 4x Superdrive, and USB 2.0.

Of course, I had to get one. I ordered a loaded up 20" with a 250GB hard drive and the wireless bluetooth KB/Mouse option, 1GB of RAM and all. It should be here September 29th if the website is right. I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.

Angi will get my Powerbook and Becca will get the old iMac. Not that she hasn't already taken it over pretty much. She's quite enamored with Playhousedisney.com and pbskids.com and I'm sure would be thrilled to have the machine all to her own. It's quite fun to watch her use the mouse and click and play her little games.
