There is a nice XGrid project over at the Xgrid@Stanford page that you can attach your Macintosh platform up to and support a biologists need for super computing resources.

You of course need to install the XGrid Technology preview ver 2 from Apple and then this webpage has step by step instructions for attaching up. It's pretty straight forward and the instructions take you through everything from installing the XGrid package to configuring the client.

A few times I've seen the speedometer up and it shows a 200 GHz machine or so. I'm not sure how long the project is going to run or anything but I emailed the author and he responded with some details and thanks for helping him out. I'm sure my 867MHz PowerBook 12" isn't doing a whole lot by itself, but when you get a whole bunch of them together I'm sure it helps out a lot.
