iTunes Enhancements

Over on the O'Reilly site there was an article about improvements to iTunes needed, and it got me thinking.

They had 'five things' that had to be there in the next version, and it got me to thinking on things that I have often thought 'eh, wish that was there'

They had two I've thought of. An Alarm clock feature - I would love that. I've often wanted a 'sleep' function where when I'm headed for bed I punch up a play list. However most of my playlists are in the neighborhood of 40 - 50 songs - well past my threshold for staying awake as I drowse off with Angi.

So I'd really like a 'sleep' function where I could say pick a time of my choosing for it to slowly lower the volume and then fade out and stop. But then I'd also like an alarm clock feature that would fade in playing something at a given time with space bar being the snooze button, etc.

The other big side I'd like to see is improvements in the DJ'ing capabilities also in the ways I can burn. I can do DAO or 2 sec delay but nothing else. Marc one time made me a great mix CD that he had songs fading in and out of each other and I'd really like to be able to do that. It'd be really cool if they went further and had it do beat comparisons and maybe let you make 'smushes' where you take two totally different songs and play them on top of each other. I'd heard about several mixes that were apparently just amazing but of course due to copyright issues you couldn't go out and download them.

those are the two big ones I can think of. Anyone think of something that they're missing from a useability standpoint? If you're one of the infidels that doesn't use iTunes you could always download it here and join the music revolution (windows or macintosh of course)
