New Apple PhotoPod? I don't think so

People seem to want all these features crammed into a little device and seem to forget the reason the iPod is successful is not because it is feature laden with so much crap that it's hard to know what the thing does.

There has been rampant speculation that Apple is releasing a new iPod any day now with a larger hard disk drive.

There seems to be a lot of people on various websites building up a wish list of color screen, hook it to a TV to play back your photos, sync it to iPhoto do all sorts of gee whiz things.

I hate it. I hate the idea of it, I think it's the wrong direction, and I think it's too mac-centric for it to be successful (iPhoto sync). I think the current crop of tools that let you copy your digital photos to it are great (albeit not the best as I previously said). People seem to want all these features crammed into a little device and seem to forget the reason the iPod is successful is not because it is feature laden with so much crap that it's hard to know what the thing does.

iPod was simplicity in your hand. I plays music, and makes it easy to do so. That's it.

I just don't see Apple messing with it in this way. I think people are going overboard on this whole deal and this seems so un-apple like.
