Microsoft Delays AMD64/EM64T Revisions of Windows

The conspiracy theorist in me says that Chipzilla whispered to Billy that their processor that supports >2 procs per box isn't set to ship until May 2005.

News.com is reporting that Microsoft is delaying the release of their 64-bit memory extension (AKA AMD64/EM64T) release of their operating system to now 1H 2005. This is the second of a major delay. Originally this revision was to ship in 1H 2004. It has continued to slip in the name of security and stability for some time now, though a public beta has been out since February I don't imagine many large customers running production systems on beta operating systems

The conspiracy theorist in me says that Chipzilla whispered to Billy that their processor that supports >2 procs per box isn't set to ship until May 2005. Coincidence? Who knows, but it sure would have given AMD a big jump on things with the recent support from HP and Sun on that platform.
