Off to Lawrence, KS

We headed off to Lawrence, KS on the 19th. Been here for a few days now

Other than the raw lack of broadband internet as always it's been a lot of fun so far. We got in rather late Friday of course, and Becca was playing shy both with Grammy and Papa. But by Saturday morning she'd warmed up completely and was very happy to see them. Then Nate, Jake, Zach and Andrew all showed up and the bets were off.

It was really fun to see them all in action again. Andrew was pretty much the same, but Jake and Nate were light years different. Nate talks extremely well and was very weird to here him talk normally. Jake has gotten so much more active and has gotten his mom's curly hair. He also does this cute thing to say goodbye and love you. He has a three phase approach to it. First is the nose rub, then the kiss, and finally a 'chin bop' where he bonks his chin against yours and off he goes.

We saw The Return of the King on Sunday Afternoon/Evening. It was an excellent movie and a great end to the series. I think they did very well with the adaptation as best they could, and for a total of almost 12 hours of film it was really an amazing thing.

Monday evening Matt and I went and saw the Matrix Revolutions. I had pretty low expectations after seeing Reloaded so anything could have been better. I was pleasantly surprised I think. It was much more faithful to the original and was a little more esoteric than expected after the bore-fest that was Reloaded. Characters bought it - some rather violently - and there was a great last stand type offensive with the humans vs. machines.

The spiritualistic side was rather interesting and in all it semi-redeemed the poor excuse for an episode that was Reloaded. I think they could have made a slightly longer revolutions and done it in two. Reloaded came dangerously close - if not very successfully - to destroying the series. I know box office takes of revolution were so low compared to the original and even the second. I firmly believe it was because the second was such a dog.

Tuesday was spent visiting old acquaintances here in Lawrence. We hit the old neighborhood today. We stopped by Jen and Melissa's homes and skipped Heather & John's place. It was nap time and we didn't want to disturb the new baby & Jackson's nap time. We talked for a while with Jen and then I dozed off at Melissa's. Becca kicked my pinky toe on accident Monday morning sometime and it was really hurting and I've been limping quite a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if it was broken. It's really purple and sore still today, not near as bad as Monday though. Could barely walk on Monday. Anyway I dozed off while Angi and Melissa caught up, then we went to Target and headed for Mom & Dad's

Well tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I believe we are doing a 4;30PM Church service. Not real sure what the other plans are for the day. I don't have any.
