Toured the National Mall today
Then on top of that for about a 1/2 mile radius
is completely fenced off with 12 - 15' tall fencing so you can't see the square
or anything until you get far away.
We toured the National Mall today. Hit all the
major monuments, and then walked by the White House. Resisted the urge to give
the finger because I'm sure he wasn't home
today.Saw the new World War 2
monument. We hadn't gotten into it maybe 5 minutes before I look at Angi and
she's crying. It was probably more emotional than most because of the recent
dedication and all of the veterans there. Very impressive monument and it
felt odd being at something that will stand for centuries just like everything
else that is there. What really sucked
though was the Washington Monument is effectively off limits. First you need a
ticket, and all tickets were gone for the day. Second they have a list of rules
that make Airports look lax in security as far as what can/can't go near it.
Then on top of that for about a 1/2 mile radius is completely fenced off with 12
- 15' tall fencing so you can't see the square or anything until you get far
away. Kinda bummed me out.We went to
the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, White House, and then headed back around
2pm. I'm sunburnt, and we think we walked about 3 miles total pushing a
stroller and me carrying a backpack full of laptop, lenses, and
camera.Took a ton of pictures and
doing a quick and dirty upload now just by date. Will sort them out later. As
usual they're on our
site
