Live Rock Arrived!

Woo Hoo! The live rock has arrived and i've gotten it all unboxed and put it into the tank. The pictures are at the fotki site.

So most of the rock is now in, it's still cloudy from the fine dust of the sand giving hardly any way to see anything so I basically just felt my way around in the tank and put in whatever I found. I got the Tampa Bay Saltwater 'package' with one modification. I only got 15 pounds of their 'live sand' and instead put in 60 pounds of the fine Argomax sugar size sand. That's where most of the dust comes from. However my research tells me that it should clear within hours because of the bacteria weighs down the sand after it starts to form to generate the filter.

So now I can see the pumps a bit better on the side, and the water level is up an inch or so from the where it was before I put the rock in. Now I have to cycle the tank with the rock over the next week or so. I'll be doing water changes often to lower the ammonia levels as the nitrosoma and other bacteria develop to eat the wastes and break the nitrite and nitrate down into nitrogen gas.

This will be a lot different from my fish only tank I had when Angi and I first got together and married. This should be exciting.
