Ordered a new video card today. Decided my two year old GeForce2 wasn't fast enough. Couple recent games I play are too slow in 1024x768 mode. Command and Conqueror: Generals was downright slow.

Speaking of which, I was a tiny bit disappointed with the game. The USA side only had six whole missions, and they were honestly pretty easy. I'm now into China a bit, and then on to the Terrorists. But it's really just previous command and conquer games with new characters. The generals thing is interesting, but nothing too overtly exciting. You get extra time based things to nuke/bomb/whatever a location (nuke = big bomb, not nuclear weapon). But other than that, it's just like Dune, C&C, Red Alert, or any other game from Westwood.

Oh well, they got my money. But in 1024x768 mode it draaaags along. So my 2 year old video card is getting tossed out in favor of a Radeon 9700. Should kick ass for a few months, then be yesterdays news again.

I was originally waiting on the GeForceFX But recent reviews led me to believe that waiting would be for nothing. So I ordered the Radeon.

Whoop. My machine has to be turned off again. It's been a while since I had to turn the power (but not since I had to reboot, it IS a Windows box by the way). Other than that, Off I go

Remember when I said reality shows were proof the four horsement of the apocolypse were coming?

I was wrong. The real harbringer of doom was the sudden and disgusting amount of interest in the freak formerly known as michael jackson

Uhm, there are people with way too much time on their hands

Was looking at a new Power Mac today. Thought I could pull it off. CompUSA has 18 months no interest right now and I thought I could squeeze in my 20" LCD & 1.42GHz machine. I needed about $300 more (for tax) but they wouldn't give it to me.

Rather annoying.

Oh well, guess I won't get it. My loss.

Managed to get the 802.11g network card working on the Windows machine. Not sure how. While trying to test things out, I turned off WEP, and the 802.11g card started working, I turned it back on thinking I didn't want WEP not running, so I turned it back on. The next time I tried, i noticed the hexadecimal password was a heck of a lot longer. I put this new, longer password in and bang. everything works.

Go figure.

The Four Horseman of the Apocolypse are on their way, and they are in the form of reality TV shows.

I just checked Dave Barry's blog, and he has a link to new shows in the works. Fine titles such as 'Who Wants to Marry my Mom?' and 'American Candidate' which has reality contestants vying for what appears to be a public office.

Not that the latter would be much different than the regular political campaigns. But the thought of some moron getting voted into office, oh, wait...
