Ah, the joys of packing. I've packed a CD-ROM drive I now need, and I can't find it.
Sigh. Now I'll just have to open box after box until I find it. Whee.

Got my new work laptop today. an IBM Thinkpad x24. Great machine. Very fast & nimble and also extremely light. I love it. not as svelte as my Powerbook but for manuvering through the airports it sure will be nice to have something so small and light.
It's about the same size as my powerbook. Except to get my CD-RW/DVD to work it needed a 'media slice' that I drop the thinkpad into. So technically it's a little thicker than the powerbook, but it's still nice.

We signed down on a place today. We picked that. scratch that, I went along with my wifes pick of the 3300 Sq Ft place in Wake Forest. I'm not convinced it's what we should do, but we're goin for it anyway. Angi really like the kitchen size, and really wants it. I was really wanting the out of town place but I got shot down every time I brought it up so I figured what the hell, she can have what she wants.
We went with their lender to save another $9000 off the price, gonna send $3000 to the closing costs and take $6000 off the price of the place.
However there is a SNAFU of a sort. The house was built to spec for another buyer, and they have not been unable to sell their house so they put it out on the market and whomever sells their place first gets this one. From what I'm told it's a buyers market in the NC area and a sellers market in the KS area so we should sell our house first. Personally I'd not be hurt at all if the other buyer got their house. I am not in love with it, but it's not a bad place either. Maybe it'll grow on me once we personalize it, but I have this mental thing in the back of my head that someone else built this to their specs, and I'm just comin along and getting what they wanted.
My biggest issue is that the deck is screened in. So I can't grill outside unless it's in the grass. Which to me is a pain in the major ass. So I'm gonna have to do something in the yard so I can grill outside.
Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Well, after two days of looking at houses I can say there are a lot of houses for sale in the Raleigh / Durham area.
We searched through Apex and Morrisville on Saturday, and Wake Forest on Sunday. We found three nice ones in Wake Forest. One in Wake Forest was over 3300 square feet, and only $230K!!!! We're totally shocked and Angi fell in love with it. I just don't know, that's awfully big place and lots of it will be empty for some time.
The next one was out in the rural area somewhere around a lake, don't remember the lake name. It sat on an acre and was really secluded. Lots of trees. Little small and a little more expensive, but I really like it.
The last one had a reall interesting layout. All the bedrooms were on the first floor, and then upstairs were two larger rooms. One would work real well for the theater room. Very nice layout. That one had it won until Angi saw the monster place.
So, we're trying to decide what to do. Gonna look at some places in North Raleigh tomorrow. Then maybe go back to the others with a camera so we can look at things for a while on our own.
