Well. i took a closer look at my file server. The motherboard is toast. The heat sinks didn't just fall off, they ripped the tabs off the sockets so I can't put them back on. Also one of the CPUs got a pin ripped out from the force. I'm super bummed now. I'll have to file a report and see what they give me.
Pricing stuff to replace it with what is available is expensive. Sigh. Hope they give me replacement value

Things are getting slowly unpacked. Not too much stuff is damaged, but a few things were.
We lost a foot off of 'the divider' that thing has been in my family since 75 or so. It looks like they slid it in instead of carrying it, and it broke off a foot. Right now it has cardboard under it keeping it even. Waiting to get everything unpacked before filing claim with said insurance company.
Next on the broken list, one of my computers. They musta bounced it hard because both heat sinks on the CPUs were ripped off, and then bounced around the inside for some time. Several of the caps on the MB are dented, going to file a claim on that one and see if I can get a dual cpu AMD system board and one cpu to replace that one.

Well. We are here officially now I guess. Angi's Dad arrived on the 16th. Of course I was off jaunting across the US in Atlanta on Thursday, and Northern California area on Friday.
Really it was more like RDU - Charlotte - Atlanta. Then Atlanta - DFW - Oakland.
Then the next day was Oakland - Walnut Creek - San Jose - Oakland - Los Angeles - Chicago - RDU
Yeah, the second day was a bitch. Something like 28 - 30 hrs with maybe 4 - 6 hrs of sleep caught on planes when I could sleep.
Saturday Angi's cousin and her family came over, I'm sure we were as boring as hell especially to her poor kids (two girls, like 11 and 16) who had to be bored shitless here because we had no TV hooked up, no nothing and they don't get up here often adn really wanted to go to the mall.
I think I passed out in a chair cold at about 5:30pm and when I woke up at 8 it was pitch black and everyone had gone home, and the rest had gone upstairs to watch a patched together DVD to TV so they wouldn't go nuts.
I hope to get that room a bit more cleaned up today, but Angi wants to go to the coast. So I guess we're going to the east coast of Raleigh today. I'd much prefer to work on getting things cleaned up in the house/TV Room specifically today but I don't know if I want to destroy that. I might suggest that they go to the coast tomorrow and see how that goes. I'm a bit traveled out.
Other than that, Sprint screwed up the DSL Installation and it doesn't work. But I discovered my neighbors use their wireless network wide open and have been borrowing that until I get my stuff set up later in the week when sprint comes back out.
This wireless stuff has pretty much convinced me that I probably am not going to set up my network stuff in all its former glory. I'm really diggin the laptop on the legs in a nice comfy chair thing and keeping my work stuff at work this time around instead of having everything loaded up in the house like it was in the last place. I'm going minimalist as far as outward appearance but maximumist in far as mobile technology for the house. I'm trying to decide where to hide the big file server that has all my music/pictures on it but then do everything else remotely via wireless so I can surf/email wherever I feel like it. Either in front of a TV, or what.
Speaking of TV, we have nothing hooked up at the moment. I've asked Angi a few days in a row now to make a phone call to get it all set up, but she's never done it. So we've missed some season finales. Great way to make you not watch TV anymore is to not have any way to do so. So I have two TiVo's languishing upstairs that have some shows we need to watch anyway, guess we'll catch up sooner or later.
Hopefully get a satellite ordered next day or two while here in town for a change. Have to go to Charlotte again for the day on Wednesday, but no big trips for a while. kinda nice.
