I’m Doing My Part

So ever since I’ve been aware of the ‘economic stimulus’ check that we’d be getting I’d been debating what to do with it. In principle, I disagree with the idea. Kinda like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound to the thigh. However in reality, it’s a chunk of money in my bank account, so what to do with it?

Welp.

This is disheartening.

Voter turnout in Wake County, which is where Raleigh, and several large suburbs are. Was a whopping 38.67%.

And that set records. (With bonus ‘dress shoes/dress socks up to knees in shorts’ pic)

Irony, Thy Name is Senator Brownback

When I made the list of reasons I didn’t like Kansas, Senator Brownback was one of the top of my list. Senator Roberts was right behind him. I mean we went from Nancy Kassabaum to that fool Roberts. Ugh.

Anyway. For the best fake outrage of the month (and it’s only the 2nd) I give the award to the most ironic thing I’ve seen in a while:

Sen. Sam Brownback is accusing China of ordering U.S.-owned hotels to install Internet filters to spy on international visitors during the summer Olympics.

Brownback made that charge at a news conference today where he and other lawmakers criticized China’s human rights record. The Kansas Republican also urged President Bush not to attend the Olympics’ opening ceremony.

It’s the same technology he voted for & supports the continuing use of in our own Libraries.

Well What Do You Know

Just the other week I kinda ranted about the health care plans of my favorite presidential candidates. It looks like behind the scenes some things have been happening against my current health insurance choice, the high deductible with health savings account option.

Don’t worry, if enough of you are stupid we’ll bail you out.

At least that’s what a good piece of our Senators think here in the states. If you’re dumb enough to give out a loan, build a home for, or accept a loan that says it’ll be 5% now, and 20% in two years, you too deserve a break today.

Election year politics? Or a needed help? I’m thinking the former.

How Star Trek Saves the World?

Or, more specifically, how The Shat could be entirely responsible for saving the world

Health Care and Politics.

It is no secret to anyone that I lean ‘left’ when it comes to politics. Though Brian insists I don’t. I don’t want to admit it but if you read textbook definitions I’m probably a republican, but, the textbook definition has changed over the years so much that I can’t be a republican because they’re not republicans anymore. They’re theo-crats. This is where my biggest problem has come with them.
