Ding Dong the Witch is Dead

OK. I have a confession. I liked Carly Fiorina. I liked her for all the right reasons, she killed one of the best computer companies on the planet, Compaq.

So thank you Carly for making my job from a tough uphill battle to an easier fight. Sure there are the die hard Compaq lovers out there, but you did a great job of releasing shitty products and letting my employer come in with technically superior products and win over the hearts and minds of the geeks.

Thank you for focusing your company on any new pretty gadget that rolled by. Thank you for mergin companies and yet keeping every product line they offered. Thank you for tanking things and firing off all your good engineers because they're happily working for us at Austin, Raleigh, and other areas. Thank you for doing such a crappy job releasing IA64 based servers that you helped kill of the chip by putting your version of Unix on it.

Thank you for having no engineering insight to make a Blade server that doesn't do anything better than a standalone until you saw how someone who knew what they were doing released a product and started kicking your butts so that your sales forces tactics are to come in and present the 'HP Solution' and 45 of your 50 slides are why IBM sucks with no real backup as to why your product isn't any better than two chimps and some LEGO bricks.

So I'll Miss you. Because now the giant might be able to turn it around if they find the right person which most amusing includes about half the IBM executive team. Don't know about you but I'd like to think a lot of the IBM Execs know they're with the winner and other than spinning off your printer division and letting the rest of your bloat sink or swim be the only thing that saves you now.

Brian has some high hopes you can retain what's left of your brain power and Scott points out that you have worse things to live down than OS/2 and Microchannel.
